A Masterpiece of Samurai Craftsmanship: The AISI 1095 High Carbon Steel Katana
Ancient Swordmaking Mastery:
The AISI 1095 High Carbon Steel Katana is a true testament to the art of traditional swordcraft. Hand-forged using ancient techniques, this katana is a symbol of precision and craftsmanship.
The blade of this katana is meticulously constructed from 1095 High Carbon steel in a Maru style. To enhance its strength and power, it features no bo-hi.
During the crafting process, a special clay is expertly applied to the blade. This clay application involves a thin covering near the edge and a thicker layer over the rest of the blade. This meticulous method results in a blade that cools at different rates during quenching, leading to a hardened edge and a softer back.
The distinctive and captivating real hamon pattern on the blade is a testament to the artistry of differential cooling during quenching and tempering.
To achieve a mirror-like surface, the blade is meticulously hand-polished with multiple-grade sharpening stones, using the time-honored Japanese technique.
Exquisite Details:
The Tsuba (guard) of the katana is a work of art itself, crafted from brass with a mesmerizing Snake design.
The Habaki (blade collar) is a one-piece brass construction, ensuring stability and durability.
Two Seppas (spacers) securely hold the Tsuba in place.
The Tsuka (handle) core is crafted from high-quality wood, providing both strength and balance. It is tightly wrapped with white genuine Ray skin Samegawa and adorned with coffee-colored synthetic silk Ito, ensuring a comfortable and firm grip.
The Fuchi (sleeve) and Kashira (buttcap) are also meticulously made from brass, adding to the katana’s overall elegance.
A Full Tang construction ensures durability, secured by two Mekugi (pegs).
Copper snake Menuki (ornaments) grace each side of the Tsuka, adding to its aesthetic appeal.
Superior Sheath and Fittings:
The saya (sheath) of the katana is crafted from natural hualee wood, providing both protection and a beautiful presentation.
A coffee-colored synthetic Sage-O is elegantly tied around the bright copper Kurigaga (knob) of the scabbard.
The Koiguchi (scabbard mouth) and kojiri are made from buffalo horn, adding to the katana’s longevity.
Versatility and Elegance:
The AISI 1095 High Carbon Steel Katana is a versatile masterpiece suitable for iaido and kendo practitioners. Its superior craftsmanship and timeless design make it a true Samurai sword.
